Innovation Fridays is a transformative initiative designed to cultivate a culture of creativity and collaboration within the Ministry of Community Development. By dedicating every Friday to passion projects outside employees' regular duties, this program, inspired by Google's '20% time', breaks down departmental silos and fosters cross-departmental collaboration on innovative projects. This approach creates a dynamic and engaging work environment, encouraging creativity and teamwork.
Since its inception, Innovation Fridays has successfully launched a prototype phase, generating 34 new ideas, with 12 of them implemented within just a month. This rapid implementation has significantly enhanced employee engagement and cross-departmental cooperation. The initiative not only boosts job satisfaction and innovative output but also aligns with the Ministry’s goals of fostering an inclusive and creative organizational culture. Moving forward, the project plans to expand its resources by developing an internal portal and potentially establishing a physical Innovation Hub to support ongoing collaboration and innovation. The program’s design allows for scalability and adaptability, ensuring it can evolve with the organization’s needs and continue to inspire employees well into the future.
