  • Why should the UAE look beyond Silicon Valley when looking at their innovation strategy?
  • What are the shortcomings of a narrow focus on novelty, tech accelerators and VCs?
  • What other paths are available for countries that want to establish themselves as global innovation powerhouses?
  • What can we learn from those countries that succeeded pursuing their own mix of innovation strategies?
In this session, Professor Dan Breznitz, Co-Director of the Innovation Policy Lab at Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy and Political Science, University of Toronto will share examples from different countries that succeeded in securing economic growth by specializing in innovation at different stages of the production process, going beyond VC backed startups to pursue a broad array of options.
